A FREE screening of a film about “wellbeing economies” is coming up in Crediton.

Hosted by Sustainable Crediton, Purpose will be shown at Crediton Arts Centre on Thursday, October 24 at 7.30pm and finish at 9pm.

“Successive governments have focused on economic growth at all costs, yet have not considered what sort of economy we want or need,” a spokesperson for the event said.

“The focus is solely on making more money. Yet this is resulting in terrible damage to our societies and planet,  especially through the effects of climate change and global warming which we are seeing right across the globe.

“[The new film] explores our economies and how they work, and looks at practical alternatives which are already being implemented in some countries.”

After the film, there will be a discussion which will “include thoughts about its implications for us here in Crediton”.

The evening is free of charge, but donations are welcome.
