CHILDREN from Hayward’s Primary School have been busy making tiles for a mosaic, which was unveiled by Crediton Mayor, Cllr Liz Brookes-Hocking.

Each class chose their best artist to work on the tiles for the mural and made 25 tiles measuring 30cm x30cm and all the children were invited to help with the designs.

The children worked with artist, Lynn West and teaching assistant Yvonne “Tads” Crone to make the tiles to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II creating pictures of the Queen, her Corgis, Union Jack flags, a carriage, a Beefeater and even the Queen parachuting.

The mural, which is on display at the entrance to the reception area was started in September and has only just been completed.

Dave Camp put the mural together and mounted it on the wall. It will now be covered in perspex to protect it from the elements.
