CREDITON Dairy, one of the town’s biggest employers, had one of the biggest pieces of equipment for any Crediton company delivered last Saturday, July 31.
The item was a 24-metre long silo and 4.3 metres wide.
It took two days to be driven down from Scotland with a police escort changing as it went through the various districts.
It came into Crediton via Cowley, up Exeter Road and into Charlotte Street, causing a lot of interest all the way.
There was some disruption to traffic on the A377 while the silo was transported by lorry into the town.
It was off-loaded and carefully moved into the Dairy factory site, despite the tight squeeze.
Two large cranes were used to install the silo.
The silo it was replacing was taken out later on Saturday.
It is believed that a second silo, of a similar size, might be delivered to Crediton Dairy tomorrow, Saturday, August 7.
