A LOCAL woman has raised as much as £1,740 for Hospiscare at her 69th birthday party.

Jackie Coren of Bow Peeps Hospiscare Fundraising Group held the 1960s-themed event at Yeoford Community Hall on Saturday, January 18.

The hall was decorated with Union Flag bunting, flags and banners, and one of Ms Coren’s favourite bands Carnaby Street performed live.

Harlequins Carnival Club provided the bar and Bow Peeps Hospiscare Fundraising Group the food.

Many guests who went along wore colourful fancy dress. Family, friends and local businesses donated draw prizes and bottles of wine.

Ms Coren’s sister Yvonne suggested holding a draw for a wheelbarrow full of wine which proved incredibly popular and was won by Julie Bewes.

Ms Coren has thanked everyone who helped on the day and the following businesses who sponsored the band: RKH Construction Ltd, C J Cleaning Services, Colin Rook Farm Machine Maintenance, Rose Removals and Ross Hext Agric Contractor.
