AT its Annual Meeting on Tuesday, May 16, Councillors Liz Brookes-Hocking and Steve Huxtable were elected as Mayor and Deputy Mayor respectively.
In addition to this, it was decided that Cllr Huxtable would hold the position of Deputy Mayor for six months, with Cllr Guy Cochran taking office for the remainder of the year.
The Mayor and Chair is a position held by Cllr Brookes-Hocking for two years previously.
At the meeting, she stated that she has enjoyed her second year as Chair and Mayor, which had been a privilege.
She thanked councillors, who had all worked well together and she hoped that this would continue post-election.
She reported that there is lots for the council to do and achieve, with things changing rapidly.
Cllr Huxtable said: "I feel privileged to have been elected to this position for the first six months of this council year and am looking forward to supporting Cllr Brookes-Hocking in her mayoral role and learning more about the responsibilities the position holds.”
At the same meeting, councillors were elected to the four main committees (Planning and Town Strategy, Council Affairs and Finance, Community and Environment and Climate Emergency), alongside Sub-Committees for Grants, Public Footpaths and Christmas in Crediton.
