A SANDFORD woman who knitted dozens of angels which hang on four Christmas trees in Exeter Cathedral has now seen her tree decorations in place.

Margaret Phillips was taken to Exeter by Cathedral volunteer Malcolm Vallance, who also lives in Sandford.

Malcolm said that she was thrilled to see the angels, adding that it was her first trip to Exeter since March.

He added: We caught the Sandford Bus into Exeter walked down Princesshay to the Cathedral. Viewed the four trees, and then had time to spend a quite moment in the Cathedral."

He and Margaret then enjoyed tea and some shopping before taking a taxi home.

In total 1,500 knitted angels adorn the trees in Exeter Cathedral, all knitted by local volunteers following an appeal by the Cathedral.
