A MAN has been charged with two counts of attempted murder and possession of a knife after two people were stabbed in Exeter.
Leon Telemacque, 31, of Clements Road, Birmingham, has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before Exeter Magistrates’ Court today, Monday, May 20.
Emergency services were called to Bampfylde Street on Saturday, May 18 at around 2am after a report two people had been “assaulted with a knife”, police said.
A 23-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were taken to hospital.
The man is in a stable condition after surgery. The woman has been discharged.
“There will continue to be a police presence in the city centre while we carry out enquiries and offer reassurance,” DI Paula Trevett said.
“We do not believe there is a wider risk to the public and we would ask people not to speculate on social media as this could prejudice any future court process.”
