A 36-YEAR-OLD company director appeared in court at the weekend charged with murdering his uncle.

Corin Harper-Davis, of Dermody Road, Hither Green, London, is accused of murdering his 64-year-old uncle Jonathan Harper.

The victim was stabbed to death at a property in the tiny village of Brampford Speke on the evening of Wednesday, July 31.

Harper-Davis, who is a director of a video production business, also faced a second charge of assaulting a police officer.

No pleas were entered during the short hearing.

Harper-Davis made a four-minute-long appearance before Exeter Magistrates Court and was remanded in custody until Monday, August 5 when he will appear before a judge at the city's Crown Court.

Brampford Speke is a village around seven miles east of Crediton and has a population of just over 400 people.
