THE Crediton Lions recent Lions Giant Easter Egg Draws raised more than £1,500 for the Talking Newspaper and The Honeylands Music Therapy Fund.
The Lions thanked the numerous venues where the Easter Eggs were raffled and to the generous public of Crediton and beyond for supporting the fundraising.
Beryl Fitzwalter, President of the Crediton Lions Club, presented a cheque for £750 to the Crediton Talking News at the recording session held on Thursday, April 23.
Thanks were expressed for the generous donations, which will keep the Talking News project going with new players, as the demand for the service grows.
This also follows other generous support from the TAP fund (Town and Parish) support and from the South West Foundation, "Make a difference" grant programme.
The Talking News has been locally produced each Thursday since the middle of February and consists of not only the Crediton Courier, but about eight hours of other recordings of national magazines and the BBC In Touch programme.
A master recording is made, then duplicated and posted each week to the listeners, who currently number 29, from Crediton and the surrounding area.
The service is entirely free-of-charge and is available to anyone who feels that due to their situation they would benefit from the recorded news.
Contact can be made directly to the Talking News by calling Peter on 01363 773437 or Eric on 01363 82878.
