THE latest Central Devon Liberal Democrat election leaflet uses a graph claiming that the Liberal Democrats are the main challengers to Conservative Mel Stride.  

This can both mislead and confuse the electorate. The graph uses the 2010 election Lib Dem result and it compares it against the 2017 Labour election result. The Liberal Democrats have either come third or fourth in every general election since 2015. 

In the 2019 election, Labour was ahead of the Lib Dems by 5,604 votes. These facts can be checked for accuracy on Wikipedia, Central Devon constituency.

Liberal Democrat candidate Mark Wooding is publishing material that could be seen to be dividing the opposition vote and to the benefit of electing Conservative Mel Stride.
