A SANDFORD couple have written the following letter to Mid Devon District Council concerning a planning application for five affordable dwellings at Crofts Estate, Sandford:

I am emailing my objection to the proposed erection of five affordable dwellings at Land and Garages (NGR 282671 102585), Crofts Estate, Sandford, due to the lack of parking at Crofts Estate and St Swithun's.

I accept that there will be 10 parking spaces in the proposal, but they could be taken up by the new tenants if you have two people in each dwelling with a car each.

At present there are at least four cars using the existing garage area for parking who will have to park at Crofts Estate or St Swithun’s, which is already at full capacity, should this development go ahead.

Also there will be visitors to the new dwellings who will require a parking space.

The major parking problem which we have at present could be alleviated by turning the grass areas at Crofts Estate into hard standing for parking.

Also allow home owners to convert their front gardens into the same.

The Council has known about this parking problem from at least 2017 but has done nothing to help the matter.

If you go ahead with this development WITHOUT solving the parking issue it would show your disregard for your tenants and the homeowners at Crofts Estate and St Swithun's.

As you must be aware by now, most of the residents of Crofts Estate and St Swithun's find parking here a huge issue which has to be solved if the development goes ahead or not.
