NOW is your last chance to sign up for Crediton and District Lions Club’s charity “fire walk” in the Town Square.

The event will take place on Saturday, October 5 from 7pm to 9pm. Participants must be aged 14 or over and will be trained how to walk over the hot coals by Scott Bell of UK Firewalk from 6pm.

You can fundraise for the Lions Club or any local charity, such as Crediton Foodbank, Exeter Leukaemia Fund or Age Concern Crediton.

Lions Club member Sheila Whitehead, who is taking part and has raised as much as £600 at the time of writing and hopes to raise £1,000, said: “Come and join me in this adventure, something I never thought I would be brave enough to do.

“I’ll try anything once and intend to have fun doing it.”

Lions Club President Ann Whitehouse added: “I urge everyone to support us by walking or by sponsoring Sheila and any other walkers you may know.

“Please be generous, without your support we would be able to do much less in Crediton.”

Entry costs £25 to help Crediton Lions Club cover the cost of organising the event.

All funds must be raised through the Lions Club, which will collate the money before passing it on to the various charities.

Participants will also be invited to a special donations evening for all the charities involved.
