RAIN held off right until the very last step had been taken by wreath layers at Crediton Town and Hamlets War Memorial on Sunday morning, November 12.
Many people had walked there after the service in the Parish Church. Crediton Town Band played during the ceremony.
Slightly more than 30 wreaths and floral tributes were laid - such as the fresh chrysanthemums and red roses laid for the people of Ukraine who have lost so much and the small bunches of poppies high up in the roof of the War Memorial.
Crediton’s churches took part in the prayers, all the councils - county, district and parish - with wreaths laid on behalf of the Ambulance Service, Fire Service and Police, the Army Cadet Force, the Conservatives, youth organisations among all the rest.
After the ceremony at the War Memorial, organisations went on down to the town square to disperse.
