IN the Church of England calendar, the period between Easter and Advent is so-called “ordinary time”.

But it’s hardly boring in Crediton with plenty of services and events coming up over the summer. Here’s what’s lined up, offering something for everyone whether spiritual or social:

Going for a Sing on Friday, July 22 from 10.30am to 12 noon in the Boniface Centre – Everyone is welcome to go along and join this fun, informal singing group. No need to book, no charge but donations invited and refreshments served. For more information, contact Anne Jerman on 01363 772865.

[email protected] on Sunday, July 31 at 3.30pm (and August 14 and 28) in the Boniface Centre – A family friendly, short, informal service with songs, video, stories of Jesus and refreshments.

Meat Bingo on Wednesday, August 3 in the Boniface Centre – doors open at 6.45pm for eyes down at 7.30pm. Fundraising event for the church.

Patronal Festival Weekend at St Lawrence Chapel, Threshers - The annual Fayre will take place on Saturday, August 13, 2.30pm to 4.30pm. Patronal evensong will be on Sunday, August 14 at 6pm with the West Gallery Quire.

Sacred Space on Sunday, August 21 at 6pm in Holy Cross Church – reflective service of hymns, prayers and readings with a small music band.

Open Day at Holy Cross on Saturday, August 27 from 10am to 4pm – tours, displays, brass rubbing, organ music and refreshments. For more information, contact Anne Jerman on 01363 772865.

Craft Fair on Saturday, September 3 in the Boniface Centre from 10am to 2pm – shop early for Christmas from this wide variety of items made by local crafters. If you missed the Craft Fair in church in May, this is your chance to catch up. Refreshments available throughout.

Quiz and Supper on Saturday, September 3 in the Boniface Centre – doors open 6.30pm for a prompt start at 7pm. Teams of four at £8 per person. Book your team in with Glenda on 01363 773669.
