A CREDITON shop has become a drop-off point for items for a Christmas Shoebox Appeal for homeless people locally.
Sweet shop “Cartoonz”, run by Becky Collins, is accepting items for the “Homeless Shoebox Appeal for the Southwest”.
The appeal was started by Sophia Tucker of Winkleigh and it aims to give shoeboxes, or bags of items, which the public can fill, or just donate some of the required items, to homeless people in the South West.
The appeal is giving items to homeless people locally, including Exeter, Plymouth, Torquay, Ilfracombe, Bude, Barnstaple and Newton Abbot, as well as further afield.
Becky explained: “Please bring in any of these items: hats, scarfs, socks, toothpaste, toothbrushes, baby wipes, hair brushes, shower gel, sanitary towels, sweets, torches, blankets, jumpers and thermals.
“If you are filling a box, please state if is for a man or woman and perhaps, pop a Christmas card in as well.”
Becky, who said she has been delighted at donations to-date, asks that items are delivered to her at the shop at 124 High Street, Crediton, by the end of November.
