LIBRARIES Unlimited, the charity which runs Devon Libraries, will be keeping most of its libraries (including Crediton Library) open for its Choose and Collect service during this period.
The public will not be able to go into the library building, but customers can email: [email protected] or telephone 01363 772578 to pre-arrange a time and date to collect chosen items from a table in the library entrance.
Existing loans that were due back between November 5 and December 2 have been extended to the week commencing January 11, 2021, so families do not worry if they aren’t able to get to the library easily during this period.
Any new book loans taken out will now not need to be returned for 10 weeks rather than for the usual three. This also includes DVDs, audiobooks and CDs, so in the case of DVDs it is 10 weeks for the price of one!
Customers can borrow up to 24 books, and children can still reserve books from other libraries free-of-charge.
The library’s Book Track reading scheme will be continuing via email. It will also have more online content for families. Please see Crediton Library Facebook page.
The digital library likewise remains open, where customers can download and stream free eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines and e-newspapers from the extensive collection.
If families look at https://librariesunlimited.overdrive.com/library/kids/ they will find sections such as "Reading Well for Children", "New stuff", "Home schooling", "Always available" etc. The library currently has 1,838 ebooks available for children.
