The programme has already started with a collage workshop led by local artist Charlotte Turner, when participants of all ages enjoyed creating concertina sketchbooks filled with imaginary landscapes.
On Thursday, August 11 Stuart Toms will run two sessions for budding musicians who want to start learning the guitar.
“We’ve got a fantastic group of artists leading the workshops with some really exciting opportunities to have a go at something new,” explained Heart Project Chair, Rosemary Stephenson.
“The workshops are open to all ages and we’re really keen for parents and grandparents to join in the activities with their children.”
On Saturday morning local writer Ysella Sims will run a Writing From Life workshop, followed in the afternoon by potter Steph Wentworth, who will guide people through the process of creating and decorating their own piece of pottery.
On Sunday morning you could have a go at Cyanotype Printing, using the power of the sun to make beautiful images.
In the afternoon there will be a chance to make pottery on a large scale, at a Ceramic Sculpture workshop.
Members of The Turning Tides Project will be supporting the programme by providing refreshments for participants, as well as running a Junk Band workshop, when people will make their own musical instruments out of recycled objects and get to play them together in a band performance.
Other workshops to come in the next two weeks include Willow Sculpture, Drama, Junk Band, Graffiti Art, Songwriting, Jewellery Upcycling and Robot Making. Each workshop costs £5 for adults and £3 for under 16s.
