A new stairlift was “officially opened” held at Chiddenbrook Surgery in Crediton.
The surgery’s League of Friends chairman Steve Willis welcomed the Mayor of Crediton, Cllr Frank Letch MBE, who was happy to test the lift and declare it open!
Doctors, members of the League of Friends and the practice manager were also on hand to toast the opening.
The Mayor said: “It’s a really welcome addition, making the whole surgery more accessible for both patients and staff.”
The stairlift has already been put to use and the surgery expect that when they are back to full strength after the summer it will be used regularly.
Practice Manager, Richard Ward said: “The stairlift will open up the upstairs consulting room to many of the less nimble patients.
“Until now anyone who had an appointment in the upstairs room and found the stairs difficult, either had to struggle or wait for a downstairs room to be free. It wasn’t a good solution”.
The new lift was supplied and installed by Dolphin Devon Stairlifts, a Crediton based company and fully funded by the Chiddenbrook League of Friends.
Dr Griffiths who is the GP working with the League of Friends committee, was keen to express, on behalf of the partners, their gratitude and generosity of the League and said: “They do great work to help make the patient experience better and we are really grateful. Thanks!”
