THE Kirton Hash House Harriers celebrated their 1,111th hash run over the weekend of May 23 and 24 with a camping weekend based at the Fox and Hounds pub near Bridestowe.

As part of the weekend two of the hashers, Shiggy Surfer Chick (Annie Lott) and Afro (Liam James) held a charity hash to raise money for children's charity CHICKS.

This is part of a big fundraising effort including a trek climbing Mount Roraima in Venezuela (the mountain that inspired Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World) in the autumn.

The charity hash included silly games on route around the course.

The weather was brilliant for the day so a lot of water fights were involved.

The Hasher's were adorned in fancy dress with the theme "Dress as another hasher", using hash nicknames.

This included characters such as Madonna, Windup, Afro and Wurzel Gummage.

Grand Master "Superbug" (Andy Kirby) celebrated his 200th hash with forfeits throughout the course. The hash raised more than £85 for the charity.

CHICKS (Country Holidays for Inner City Kids) provides free respite holidays for children from under privileged and deprived backgrounds from across the UK.

Run from their centres in Devon and Cornwall they take children aged eight to 15 from across the UK. This gives the children a proper holiday and a break from their normal situation.

The next event that Liam and Annie are holding as part of this fundraising effort will be a pub quiz at the Tom Cobley Tavern, Spreyton, on Monday, July 20 at 8pm.
