IF you are looking for fun things to do with your children this summer, the Crediton Heart Project’s family-friendly programme of activities and shows has something for everyone.
Following the success of last year’s summer programme, the Heart Project has teamed up with Crediton Arts Centre to run a series of workshops and performances aimed at all ages from August 4 to 12.
Have-a-go at a craft such as pottery, mask making, willow sculpture or collage. Or get active at a "Boogie Bold Dance" or "Monster Madness Drama" session, make music at a "Strumalong" workshop or even make your own mini movie at a Lego animation workshop and then stay on to watch the Lego Batman Movie.
"We’ve tried to make the programme as varied as possible to appeal to everyone. It’ll be a chance to get creative in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere," explained Heart Project chair, Rosemary Stephenson.
"We really hope parents and carers will come and join in with their children, but that’s not obligatory!"
Other evening events will include concerts by local musicians, a screening of the much acclaimed "Life of Pi" and a powerful, funny one man play "Every Brilliant Thing", which raises awareness of mental health issues.
The Heart Project’s summer programme follows the success of last year’s creative workshops held in a marquee behind the Redlands surgery.
"These proved really popular and we’ve had lots of requests to run more workshops this summer", explained Rosemary. "We’re delighted that the Arts Centre has offered to host us this year."
The workshops will be held from August 4 to 12 at Crediton Arts Centre, East Street, EX17 5JQ.
Tickets are just £3 for under 16s or £5 for 16+. Children aged five-to-10-years must be accompanied by an adult who can participate or watch.
