THE latest exhibition at Crediton Museum on historic customs and traditions in the local area is free to go and see until the end of October.
Entitled "Customs, Charms and Cures”, visitors can learn about age-old practices including bull-baiting in Crediton, “beating the bounds” in Sandford, traditional food and drink, local superstitions and sayings and old remedies such as biting a tooth from a skull to cure toothache.
Cheryl Lewis, who coordinated the exhibition with Crediton Area History and Museum Society Chair Tony Gale, said: “Come and find out about your alternative history of Crediton... things you've probably never heard of.
“We have a treasure hunt for older children, a sheet of photos of things they can go round the museum and find, and for little ones we've got some felt bees scattered about they can find.”
Admission is free with donations welcome.
Crediton Museum’s opening hours are 10am to 4pm Wednesday to Friday and 11am to 2pm on Saturday.
