FIREFIGHTERS from North Tawton and Hatherleigh put out a barn fire at Broadwoodkelly, near Winkleigh on Wednesday, October 21.
Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service was alerted to the incident at 3.04pm and a water bowser from Barnstaple was also sent to the scene.
On arrival, crews used one main jet, and requested assistance from a further appliance. This was sent from Torrington.
The barn contained 200 tonnes of hay, and the fire was in the centre of the stack, smoldering.
The farmer used his telehandler to remove bales and gain access to the fire. Crews worked with two main jets and a thermal imaging camera and were at the scene for many hours.
