CHERITON Fitzpaine Carnival Queen Belle Tonkin (11) is looking forward to welcoming everyone to Cheriton Fitzpaine Carnival on Saturday, July 27.

Belle and her five attendants, Erin, Bertie, Izzy, Molly and Grace will take part in the carnival parade, riding in a horse drawn carriage.

To be crowned Queen, Belle and her family sold £1,845 worth of raffle tickets.

The combined efforts of those who sold raffle tickets raised £2,836 towards the Carnival expenses.

Belle was crowned by her cousin, Harry Tonkin, who was Carnival King the last time the Carnival took place in 2018.

Village organisations and groups are currently busy preparing their tableaux for the Carnival Procession, which gathers before 6pm, the parade kicking off at 7pm.

It will include music, a fire engine, samba band Street Heat, plus many vehicle and walking entries.

Many people will gather in the village to watch the carnival.

There will also be food and a disco following the parade.
