A FRAWZY is a Devonshire dialect word for a treat, a cake, a pudding or a dainty feast.

On Saturday, April 29, from 2.30pm to 5.30pm, a Devonshire Frawsy will be held at the Boniface Centre in Crediton.

Everyone is invited and asked to take along and share their home-cooked Devon food, sweet or savoury and share their memories of Devonshire delights with others.

There will be an Introduction by Dr Paul Cleave plus an interactive discussion about Devon food and culture.

Guest exhibitor will be Gray’s Devon Cider and samples of cheese are kindly being provided by Quicke’s Cheese of Newton St Cyres.

There will be traditional Devonshire music from folk singer, songwriter and musician, Jim Causley who specialises in the traditional songs and music of the West Country.

Admission is FREE but donations on the day, to allow the next event to happen, will be very welcome.

The event is being organised by the Devon Voice Group, a group of people who share a love of the Devonian accent and dialect.

The Group meets weekly to talk about how it has changed; phrases and words that members remember fondly and how they would like our accent to be represented today.

Also the Group meets for a good old social chit-chat!

If hearing the Devonian accent and dialect feels like coming home - then this is definitely for you!
