“THE Beatnxs”, the hugely-popular ‘Beatles” cover band, will be returning to Crediton Town Square to play at the “Right Royal Bash” on Sunday, June 5.
This follows the band’s successful performances at the Crediton Christmas Lights Switch-On last November and at CredFest, where the band so memorably entertained everyone.
“The Beatnxs” is looking forward to playing the closing set from 4pm.
The band was formed by John and Paul, John Downes and Paul Connelly, more than 20 years ago.
It has a long history of performing the “Beatles” classics, with many successes, including launching “Beatles Week” in Cambridge and performing at the famous Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool.
John and Paul pride themselves in trying to get the enthusiasm of the music across and plan to play their “Singles Set”.
John Downes said: “We were asked if we could do something with a broad range of appeal, and what better than the ‘Beatles’.
“We plan to start at the beginning with such classics as ‘She Loves You’ and ‘I Want To Hold Your Hand’ and work our way through the catalogue up to ‘Get Back’, with a few surprises in between.”
Paul said: “It will be great to be playing back in Crediton again after the great reception we got earlier in the year at The Three Little Pigs and it’s a terrific privilege to be asked to play the finale event.”
A reporter from “Local Secrets” quoted after the gig in Cambridge that “The Beatnxs” “were given a rapturous welcome, giving the crowd a memorable evening of songs, dancing and entertainment. The band found a crowd of old and new fans, with standing room only, with classic songs tumbling effortlessly one after the other and by the end of the evening everyone was either dancing, singing or clapping along”.
“The Beatnxs” features Martin Cartwright on guitar and Leslie Hampson on drums.
“The plan is”, said Martin, “to turn up, play some great songs and for everyone, young and old to have a great time, or should I say a FAB time!”
If you like the Beatles, you’ll love “The Beatnxs”!
