SUSTAINABLE Crediton’s fourth annual Big Green Fair will run from 11am to 2pm on Saturday, September 28 in Crediton’s Town Square, and it promises to be lots of fun.

The organising committee say that you can expect a wonderful family day out with a great programme of live music organised by Jack Robson and Pete Matthews of Crediton Arts Centre,  plus a set of songs on environmental themes from “Sandford Sings” choir.

There will be activities for children including a craft stall where they can make their own bird feeders and enjoy doing colouring.

There will be plenty of food and drinks to enjoy.

A Smoothie Bike will be there so that those who go along can make their very own fruit smoothie with pedal-power.

There will also be delicious soup lunches from Sustainable Crediton’s Community Larder Group.

The Community Larder is a partnership between Sustainable Crediton and Crediton Library, putting food in “Bellies not Bins” and saving many thousands of tons of CO2 each year by avoiding food wastage.

Yummy home made cakes will be provided by the Larder Group and by The Turning Tides Project.

Stalls showcasing local environmental groups and projects will include the Devon Wildlife Trust (with updates on local nature reserves), the Friends of the River Exe (who campaign, amongst other things, against sewage spills) and ecoe (Exeter Community Energy, who can advise on energy saving, insulation and more).

The fair  will provide an opportunity to find out all about Sustainable Crediton, to sign up for its Pollinator Group, Eco Crafternoon, the Larder, Wood and Tree groups, or simply sign up to its Newsletter.

If you can’t make it on the day, but wish to sign up for the newsletters, or want more information about Sustainable Crediton or any of its projects and sub-groups, email: [email protected] .

The event will also see honey on offer from local bee farmers, plants from Crediton Garden Club, and second-hand bikes from Graham’s Recyclables.

There will also be a stall promoting the use of refillable containers for household goods, so take some empties along to fill up!
