ZEAL Monachorum Village Hall is embarking on a major restoration of its building.
It was first built as a school in 1850 with additions in 1876 and 1893. When the school closed in 1955 it was bought by the community as a Village Hall and became a charity.
Since then, over the years, piecemeal improvements have been made but as might be expected with a building of that age serious issues have developed including around water ingress and damp, which require very significant work and expense.
Money has been allocated from the Hall’s reserves and applications for funding from the National Grid and Denbrook Community Fund have been successful but much more money will be needed to complete the renovations.
Erica Eden, Chair of Zeal Monachorum Village Hall, said: “Combining food with raising funds always seems like a good idea and so on Saturday, April 27, from 9am until 11.30am, we will be serving up full English breakfasts with all the usual trimmings for £6 a head.
“Pre-booking by April 22 is essential - call 01363 82571 to ensure you don’t miss out.
“It is a great way to get your Saturday off to a good start while helping a good cause.”
