MANY families received hot cross buns and every family was given an Easter egg through Crediton Food Bank when they either collected their box or had it delivered for Easter.
Because it is open on Friday mornings, it was open on Good Friday. It is also open on Tuesdays.
One day during Easter week, 18 families either called to collect or had their food box delivered, each time with an Easter egg.
A tall rack of shelves and a table were full of Easter eggs, most given by individuals. These included big boxes of chocolates and tins of sweet selections.
Regular donations include such as someone who had ordered too much flour. Rather than go through the process of returning it, they had given it to the Food Bank.
Or when a family pet dies, people often give the Food Bank pet food that is no longer going to be used by that family.
Collection points include Tesco at Wellparks, the Co-Op in the High Street, Morrisons in Mill Street and Mole Avon for pet food.
The Food Bank does not just cover Crediton, it goes as far as Bow, Copplestone, Sandford, Yeoford and other places. To ask for a food parcel, contact the Food Bank either by email: [email protected] or telephone 07740 202721 (text message or voice mail) before 10am on the day.
People from CHAT can be available for advice on debt, money, or housing on Tuesdays. Telephone 0800 059 0104 to make an appointment.
