MORCHARD Bishop CE (VA) Primary School was pleased to see the return to a little bit of normality for the last week of the Easter term.

Head Teacher Chris Sergeant said Easter is always an important part of the school year and as this year the last week of term fell during Holy Week, it was particularly relevant.

He explained: "The week started off with Methodist youth worker, Sherrin Neenan, leading an online whole school worship where she told the first part of the Easter Story.

"During the week the children made Easter Cards, before the whole school joined together on Maundy Thursday for egg rolling and a final Act of Worship, again led by Sherrin Neenan.

"The egg rolling took place down the school field where the children competed in class groups to see who could roll their egg the furthest down the field.

"A second competition was held with children building vehicles to carry an egg down the school drive.

"There were various entries including lego models, k’nex designs as well as some very imaginative scratch-built vehicles.

"The successful vehicles tended to have large wheels to cope with the uneven surface.

"At the end of the egg rolling the school gathered together outside in the MUGA to hear the final part of the Easter Story and for the winners to receive their prizes for the egg rolling."
