ALWAYS a popular rural event is Cheriton Fitzpaine Ploughing Match and Produce Show, which takes place this Sunday, September 15, from 10am.

Those who go along will be able to see the finest ploughmen from across the South West and further afield compete in a range of ploughing competitions.

In total there will be 14 ploughing classes including six National Ploughing qualifiers.  It includes vintage tractors, new tractors and ploughing with horses, which is always lovely to see.

Last year’s event saw four pairs of horses ploughing and more than 50 ploughing with tractors.

The produce show attracts a good number of entries across a range of classes, from crops to cookery and handicrafts to produce, floral, photography and children’s classes.

The entries in these classes show the skill of those who enter the competitions.

Sunday’s event will take place at Burrow Farm, Stoke Canon, EX5 4ED, by kind permission of Mr and Mrs Ross May.
