THE village of Dowland near Winkleigh is well-known for creating spectacular displays which really put the village on the map.

Its latest event “A Handmade Meadow” follows its Poppy event with its new war memorial seat and flowers down the side of the church.

The Meadow is made from 7,000 flowers, constructed by people of all ages to create a spectacular floral display inside and outside the parish church at Dowland (EX19 8PD).

The event supports three charities, PAPYRUS and MIND which are UK-based and dedicated to improving the services, raising awareness and promoting the understanding of mental health issues.

Also the children’s group PETER’S PATCH, which is based in Dowland.

This is a truly unique event and is open every Saturday and Sunday in July from 10am to 5pm.

With free entry, free parking and home-made refreshments, a warm welcome awaits.
