FOR the past three years people living on Westernlea in Crediton have provided spectacular Christmas lights displays.

This year was no exception, so much so that Crediton Hamlets Parish Council decided to give a prize for the best.

The winner was Denise Stoneman, who had illuminated reindeer on her front lawn, together with lots of lights. She received a £50 voucher for a meal at the Three Little Pigs.

Organiser was Mike Langhorne with his wife Jacqui, who live in the Crediton Town part of Westernlea and put on a brilliant display.

Explaining how it all came about Mike said: “In 2020 when covid hit, we just thought we would stick a letter through everyone’s door and see if they wanted to co-ordinate our street lighting turn-on with our lights in a community ‘moment’.

“Lots of people put up lights, it was really good and last year it just got better.” House numbers on Westernlea go up to 90 and nearly everyone put on a display.
