CREDITON Methodist Church welcomed visitors to an Exhibition of Occupations as part of its Harvest Weekend celebrations on Saturday, September 28.

There were delightful exhibitions with flowers including Artist designed by Jan Underhill, Accountant by John Ashley, Cook by Gill Sutton, Carpenter by Meg Ellis, Photographer by Mary Nunn, Greengrocer by Marjorie Ashley, Nurse by Janet Martin, Rainbow Leader by Sarah Turner and 1st Crediton Rainbows, Gardener by Hilary Everitt, Farmer by Julie Rowe and Dressmaker by Bronwyn Nott.

During the event Bronwyn explained: “Traditionally at Harvest Time we give thanks for the produce of farm and garden and we gladly offer our special gratitude for these gifts.

“However, we need many other skills and trades for our well-being and you will see some of these demonstrated here.”

The climax of the celebrations took place on Sunday, September 29 with the Harvest Thanksgiving service conducted by Andy Jerrard, the Exeter District Rural Support Worker.

Afterwards she explained: “There was a steady flow of people, especially after 12 noon when we served delicious lunches of homemade soup and rolls.

“About £150 was raised for church funds. This was a really good start to our Harvest weekend celebrations.”
