NORTH Devon Hospice is the latest charity to benefit from North Devon Crematorium's role in a national metal recycling scheme.
The hospice was presented with a cheque for £14,000 on Monday, February 5.
The donation has been generated from the proceeds of the recycling scheme run by the Institute of Cemetery and Crematorium Management (ICMM), which enables metals from cremated remains to be safely recycled.
The money will go towards North Devon Hospice's ongoing work in providing expert 24-hour care to those facing life-limiting illnesses, both at the hospice in Barnstaple and in patients' homes, and giving emotional support for their families.
The cheque was presented at the crematorium by manager Mark Drummond and North Devon Crematorium Joint Committee chairman, Councillor Simon Inch.
Councillor Inch says: "We are delighted to be able to present this brilliant amount of money to North Devon Hospice. The hospice is a vital charity for our community in the work that it does to support local families during what can be a very difficult and upsetting time in their lives. I'm sure the money will be well spent."
North Devon Hospice's Business Relationship Manager, Claire Paine, says: "We are so incredibly grateful to the North Devon Crematorium and the ICCM Metals Recycling Scheme for their recent donation of £14,000. Their kindness and generosity will make a huge difference to the patients and families we care for.
"At North Devon Hospice we provide 24-hour care to those facing a life-limiting illness like cancer, both at our hospice and in their own homes. Our expert care teams help to relieve pain and other symptoms, bringing dignity and comfort when it is most needed, while creating magical moments and joyous memories. All of this is underpinned by emotional support for the whole family, to help navigate the storm created by a life-limiting illness.
"This is only possible thanks to support from the local community and organisations like North Devon Crematorium, for which we are truly grateful. In North Devon Hospice’s 40th anniversary year we’re inspired by the uplifting care provided over that time, but support like this is essential to ensure your hospice is here in the future; caring for you, time after time."
