HOLY Cross Church, Crediton (Crediton Parish Church) is planning to hold an event, "CreditonArtsAlive" on June 24, where it is seeking to showcase all the different creative talent present within Crediton and the surrounding communities.
The church is currently in the process of arranging different acts and performers to take part in the event.
It will run from about 10am to 5pm but may run longer depending on the number of acts that sign-up.
Rev Lewis Eden, Assistant Curate in the Crediton Mission Hub, explained: "The idea is that it will be a bit of a rolling concert in which people can come and go, with different acts performing during different performance slots, with each performance slot containing similar acts of similar age.
"For example, one slot will be from 10am to 11am, which might be for schools and children under 12 to perform.
"Another slot might be from 3pm to 4.30pm, during which all the performers might be musicians and the slot will start with classical music transitioning to folk and finally ending with rock music.
"Another slot in the day might all be drama, comedy, or spoken word performances."
Lewis added: "Each performer/act will be given a time slot in which they will perform within (either of 60 or 90 minutes) not an exact time, as I cannot guarantee this.
"This has the additional benefit of performers being able to enjoy other acts before and after they have performed.
"Although the audience will be able to come and go during the day, the hope is that they will come to different time slots within the day.
"As we get closer to the day, we shall advertise what each time slot will have, whether it be music, drama, spoken word, school productions, etc. This is so people can come for the right thing and stay for the whole slot."
Anyone within Crediton and the surrounding area who would be interested in performing a musical number, a soliloquy, read out some poetry, play with a band or anything that showcases their creative talent is invited to get in touch with Rev Lewis Eden, ℅ Holy Cross Church, Church Office, The Boniface Centre, Crediton, EX17 2AH, 01363 779632 or email: [email protected] .
