THE weekend of May 27 and 28 will see a visit of a delegation of 34 friends from Avranches join in Celebrations of the signing of our Twinning Charter on April 17, 1993 at the Crediton Town Council Reception.

In the Boniface Centre, Chairman of the Council, Mrs Francine Richer signed on behalf of the Council, Peter Brewer signed as Chairman of the Twinning Association and Monsieur André Bazin, 1st Deputy Mayor and President of the Avranches Twinning Commission, signed on behalf of Avranches.

Francine Richer and André Bazin also opened Avranches Avenue in Crediton and a few years later Mayor Charlie Haydon, with the Mayor of Avranches, René André opened Rue de Crediton in Avranches.

This month, there will be a reception at the Boniface Centre at 10am on May 27 hosted by the Town Council to welcome the Avranches Councillors and guests and start the celebration of this historic event.

In the delegation from Avranches are 17 members of a choir called Vocal’In, which will be performing a concert with the Crediton Singers at the Parish Church at 7pm on Saturday, May 27.

The concert is free entry with the opportunity to make a donation if you wish.

A celebration meal is then taking place in the evening of Sunday, May 28 before the hosts spend a final night with their guests who leave Crediton on the morning of Monday, May 29.

A further celebration of the Twinning is taking place in Avranches, a celebration of the 60th anniversary of Avranches twinning with Korbach in Germany.
