MORE than 40 bands people and guests attended the Crediton Town Band's annual dinner on Friday, February 9, which was held at Crediton Rugby Club.

Eric Parkes of Crediton Town Band, said: "It was nice to see some old faces join us at what proved to be a most enjoyable evening.

"After a three course dinner we were entertained by our guest speaker, Mr Dan Down, the BBC Spotlight weatherman.

"Dan gave us a very interesting talk on his time from when he commenced broadcasting right up-to-date with his present position as weatherman.

"It was amazing to hear how much hard work goes into the production of the weather forecast and for Dan, who has to rise at 3am each day so that he is in time for the very early broadcast."

The evening was rounded off with Ady Nuthall and his traditional jazz band which provided the musical feature of the night.

His band contained some well-known faces including Mr John Glanfield, a previous teacher at Queen Elizabeth's School in Crediton.
