HAYWARD’S Primary School celebrated World Book Day a week early with a visit from Crediton’s community-owned bookshop The Bookery.

Children dressed up as book characters on Thursday, February 27 and took part in a costume parade on the back playground at breaktime.

The Bookery held three sessions throughout the day for different year groups at the school as part of its fortnight of 17 local primary school visits for World Book Day.

The bookshop told pupils about its “Top Titles for 2025”, a collection of 24 new books of varying difficulty for children aged four to 12.

Children had a chance to buy discounted books. The school also bought a collection for its library.
