FRIDAY, September 15 sees the start of Crediton Photograph Club’s 2017/18 winter season.
We are a very friendly and open club with a wide range of interest in the art of creating the image.
Throughout the winter we have at least seven evenings with a speaker. They are usually photographers from the varied world of photography.
This winter we have subjects including wildlife, people, landscape, modern art and sports photography. Other evenings we have workshops covering various skills, looking at and discussing images in the Western Counties travelling portfolio as well from our own members.
We have a group that are learning the art of producing audio visual presentations. That is taking their images and putting them to music or commentary as a slide show.
It is not a case of competing but more a case of how did you do that?
During the winter we have four in-house competitions. Each time there are three classes, coloured print, mono print and projected, so those without the means of printing their pictures or do not wish to, are able to have their pictures on show.
Not all the members submit pictures but we all learn a great deal from the judges’ comments.
In the summer months we occasionally have away trips. This summer some of the members have visited speedway at Taunton to try their hand at photographing fast moving bikes.
During September the club will have an exhibition in Crediton Library where you can see a sample of the images that club members have taken during the past year or two.
On September 15 we will have an evening where members will show pictures of "Summer Days out in the Countryside".
On Friday, September 22, we will have workshops on Macro Photography (very close up) and Animation (like "Wallace and Grommet").
On Friday, September 29 we will be meeting in the Methodist Church hall not the usual Masonic Lodge, where we will be looking at and discussing why we take photographs.
We have our first speaker of the season on Friday, October 6, Nigel Cheffers-Heard from Topsham.
He is always very entertaining.
We are inviting anyone who would like to join us, to this evening and any other evenings, when we have a speaker this winter. There will be a small charge for visitors.
If you would like to be kept informed when we have a speaker evening, contact the address below and we will keep you up-to-date.
This winter looks very exciting. If you are interested in joining us, come along on September 15 at the Masonic Lodge at 7.30pm.
