PHYSIOTHERAPISTS at Crediton Hospital were excited to receive a new Rehabilitation Bicycle thanks to support from a local charity.
The bicycle, which was purchased for the hospital by the Crediton Hospital League of Friends, is specially designed to be easier to use for adults who have musculoskeletal and neurological impairments.
The adaptions make the bike suitable for people to use immediately after a hip or knee replacement, by people who have one sided neurological problems such as after a stroke and for people with decreased balance who might find it difficult to mount and dismount a standard exercise cycle.
The bicycle, delivered earlier this month, has already been used by several people during the Musculoskeletal Outpatient Lower Limb Rehabilitation Class and the Osteoarthritis Knee classes.
The Community Reablement and Musculoskeletal Outpatient Physiotherapy Teams said: “We would like to thank the Crediton Hospital League of Friends for their support, as without their gift this equipment would not be available for use in the local community.”
