CREDITON Foodbank’s shelves are now full after a successful food drive.
Volunteers collected donations from generous shoppers at the town’s Tesco superstore between 8am and 4pm on Saturday, July 27.
The charity had issued an urgent appeal for donations ahead of the summer holidays as stocks had been running low.
“Our food drive at Tesco on Saturday was a smashing success,” a Crediton Foodbank spokesperson said.
“Thank you to each and every person that popped even a single tin, tube, packet, bottle or roll into our collection boxes.
“Our shelves are full, our volunteers are smiling, and our clients are grateful.
“Thank you for the generosity of spirit demonstrated by this very special town.”
A registered charity, Crediton Foodbank provides emergency food for local people in crisis in the town and surrounding villages.
It has food donation collection boxes at the Tesco and Morrisons supermarkets, the Spar and Tesco Express convenience stores and the Crediton Mole Avon branch.
