THE Crediton Flag Project has started early this year so that the flags are ready to decorate the town for the Coronation weekend.
Workshops have been taking place every weekend at Colebrooke Parish Hall, led by artist Charlotte Turner with her team of volunteers.
Eight new flags are being made this year to add to a collection of some 60 flags.
Each flag represents a different business or community group and takes several days to make.
First Charlotte meets each participant to discuss their ideas for a design, she then creates templates for each design so it can be traced onto the ripstop nylon fabric.
A team of volunteer sewers then make the flags using a technique called reverse appliqué, so the image is visible from both sides.
As people will soon see, the flags look stunning when the sun shines through them.
The Flag Project, now in its 11th year, is co-ordinated by Crediton Town Team and funded by Crediton Town Council.
The flags will be installed along the High Street and in the Town Square on Sunday, April 30 by volunteers from the Rotary Club of Crediton Boniface.
