ASSISTANT Curate at Holy Cross Church Rev Lewis Eden is to preach in Crediton for the last time before leaving to become a vicar in East Devon.
He will preside over the 9.30am Parish Eucharist on Sunday, September 15, which will be followed by a shared lunch in the Boniface Centre.
“I hope that as many of us as possible will be able to come and wish Lewis and [his wife] Catherine well, as they depart for pastures new,” Rector Matthew Tregenza said.
Rev Eden will be licensed as the new vicar of the White Cross Mission Community on Monday, September 23.
He and his wife were married at Crediton Parish Church earlier this year by Bishop of Crediton the Rt Rev Jackie Searle.
“Please pray for us as we prepare to move house and I begin a new ministry,” Rev Eden said previously.
“During these last three years, I have learned a lot under Matthew's leadership, and I have learned what it means in part to be a priest through working with you.
“Over my time in Crediton, there has always been an idea of where I was headed, as such all my training has been focused on ensuring that I am equipped to be a vicar elsewhere.
“For this to happen it has taken many people within this Benefice to put up with me when I have got things wrong, which I am grateful for, thank you.”
The White Cross Mission Community covers the parishes of Aylesbeare, Clyst St George, Clyst St Mary, Farringdon, Woodbury with Exton and Woodbury Salterton.
