ASSISTANT Curate at Crediton Parish Church Lewis Eden is leaving in September to become the vicar of the White Cross Mission Community in East Devon.
The mission community covers the parishes of Aylesbeare, Clyst St George, Clyst St Mary, Farringdon, Woodbury with Exton and Woodbury Salterton.
“This is a big move for me and [my wife] Catherine,” he said.
“Please pray for us as we prepare to move house and I begin a new ministry, hopefully putting into practice all that I have learned while serving as curate in the Crediton Benefice Mission Community.
“During these last three years, I have learned a lot under [Rector] Matthew's leadership, and I have learned what it means in part to be a priest through working with you.
“It has been an honour to get to know you, worship with you, learn from you and you from me.
“Over my time in Crediton, there has always been an idea of where I was headed, as such all my training has been focused on ensuring that I am equipped to be a vicar elsewhere.
“For this to happen it has taken many people within this Benefice to put up with me when I have got things wrong, which I am grateful for, thank you.”
Rev Eden will celebrate the Eucharist and preach for the final time at Holy Cross Church on Sunday, September 15 before being licensed as the new vicar of the White Cross Mission Community on Monday, September 23.
He and his wife were married in Crediton earlier this year.
