A MARRIED couple who live in Crediton have celebrated their platinum wedding anniversary.
Colin Rowe, 92, and Julie Rowe, 89, were married 70 years ago on June 5, 1954 in Copplestone Methodist Church.
They had their reception in Copplestone Village Hall.
Looking back on seven decades of marriage, Mrs Rowe said: “It's just a bit unbelievable, isn't it?
“The time flies by, really.”
The pair, who used to farm locally near Lapford, celebrated the occasion on Sunday, June 1 enjoying afternoon tea with relatives at the Waie Inn.
They also received a letter from His Majesty King Charles III and Her Majesty Queen Camilla to mark the milestone.
It reads: “We send you our warmest congratulations and heartfelt good wishes on the celebration of your platinum wedding anniversary on June 5, 2024.
“May your celebrations be particularly happy and memorable.
“[Signed] Charles R[ex], Camilla R[egina].”
Mr and Mrs Rowe have three children, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
