MUSIC lovers are in for an exceptional treat in Crediton Parish Church from 3pm on Sunday, November 20, thanks to the Saint Boniface Concert Society.

David Cottam, an outstanding guitarist-composer, will present a guitar recital, playing some of his own much-loved compositions as well as a selection of pieces by Fernando Sor, Isaac Albeniz, Federico Torroba and Augustin Mangore.

He plays on guitars made by the Crediton luthier, Shaun Newman.

David has written many guitar pieces and often performs his own compositions, continuing the tradition of earlier guitarist-composers.

He was born near Windsor, studied at the Guildhall School of Music, made his debut at the Wigmore Hall, and is now living in Mid Devon.

This year, as an innovation, the Saint Boniface Concert Society AGM will be held before the concert.

As such, entry to the concert will be free, though donations towards refreshments and towards society funds will be extremely welcome.

The Saint Boniface Concert Society is a local charity dedicated to bringing top-flight musicians to play in Crediton at affordable prices.

It very much welcomes new members to enjoy its concerts, as well as anyone who would like to help with concert arrangements, contribute ideas, or simply join its mailing list for concert information, including details of its exciting 2023 season.

If you would like to do this, but are unable to attend on November 20, please contact the secretary, Richard Stephens: [email protected] .
