GRAPHIC Plc of Crediton is the winner of a charity challenge in support of Children’s Hospice South West.

The charity says it is delighted that the recent Devon round of its £50 Challenge, Old Mill’s £50 Devon Business Challenge, has raised £12,350.60, with the winning team from Graphic Plc, raising a fantastic £3,700.

The Graphic Plc team was announced as winners at a special awards evening held at the Exeter offices of Old Mill Accountants, sponsors of this year’s challenge, and they said: “Graphic Plc is delighted to have won CHSW’s £50 Challenge, especially as it is the charity’s 25th Anniversary.

“The fundraising really pulled the team together, as well as the wider Crediton community, and we had great fun running 14 events during the three-month period.

“Children’s Hospice South West is a wonderful charity and we were motivated with our fundraising right to the end.”

The £50 Challenge is a very simple fundraising initiative whereby companies are each presented with £50 and given three months to do whatever they can to turn that investment into greater funds for the charity.

Mark Neath, Old Mill director said: “We are both honoured and delighted to be involved in helping such a worthy cause.

“People are often cynical about corporate involvement in charity but the £50 challenge sees ordinary staff from local businesses and business professionals making great efforts raising funds and having fun at the same time.”

Graphic Design Plc was one of nine companies competing to win the Devon challenge and its fundraising initiatives included a “Graphic Gig” with local acoustic singers, a netball match between “Offices” and “Shop Floor”, as well as a cake sale around the Lords Meadow Industrial Estate, where the company is based.

Other companies which took part in the Devon challenge included: Helmores Estate Agents of Crediton (who were pipped at the post into second place), Taste of the West, RGB Recruitment and Everys Solicitors.

The £50 Challenge is an ongoing initiative, and sponsors Old Mill are looking to run another challenge for Devon companies later this year.

It is a fun way to show corporate support for the charity and details as to how a company can get involved are available by either visiting: http://www.chsw.org.uk/50challenge , or calling CHSW corporate fundraiser, Naomi Dymond on 01271 325270.
