THE bells of Holy Cross Church, Crediton, will ring out three times on Remembrance Sunday (November 11), the exact Centenary of the Armistice, says Geoff Sparling, tower captain at Crediton’s Parish Church.

He explained that the morning service will be preceded as usual by a half-muffled ringing, then at 12.30pm, as part of a national campaign sponsored by the government, the bells will ring in celebration at full volume.

Finally the bells will ring once more to announce the evening Requiem Mass.
