THE latest Builds and Brews community focused car event was held on Lords Meadow Industrial Estate outside The Ally Cat wheels, Unit 4, on Sunday, May 21.
There was a wide range of cars, impressive Mustangs and Ferrari's, BMW's and Audi's, to name but a few of the impressive cars for all to see.
Vehicles and engines gleamed in the sunshine on the hot sunny day and there was a relaxed atmosphere as those attending talked about their cars or other people’s, generally while enjoying a brew of coffee.
Builds and Brews was born a few years ago and came about after bored friends Dominic Palfreman and Craig Yate (of The Ally Cat) said they wanted something social to do.
Dominic said that they wanted a place to hang out, where it doesn’t matter what you drive, what you wear, where you live, who you are or how fat your wallet is. A place built entirely on respect and getting the community involved.
He and Craig explained: “Cars and motorbikes are a great way for people to connect with each other and find common ground, and can be enjoyed by anyone of any age - who doesn’t like a car that reminds them of their childhood, days out or seeing an import car you do not see every day. It also encourages people to share the effort they have put into their projects.”
Dominic explained that Builds and Brews took place against adversity on the day.
The date had been moved so as not to clash with the Devon Truck Show, but unfortunately it then clashed with the Great West Run, (which made it difficult for some to get to Crediton).
It also clashed with Cars and Cuppas at Greendale Farm Shop, which resulted in many attending that event before coming on to Crediton.
B+B will be awarding two attendees with the opportunity to attend BHP Fuel Fest at Westpoint next month - a coveted automotive event for those that build their own vehicles.
One award has been chosen by the BHP organisers who also attended the show, the other award being a choice made by Dominic and Craig - embodying what the show is about, community.
Dominic added thanks to the volunteers, those who brought their vehicles, to the visitors and to the companies which allowed B+B to use their parking spaces, namely Graphic Plc, RJ Tyres, Aqua Essentials, Leaf Culture, Pretty Little Pastries and Mad About Detailing.
