CREDITON Camera Club made a VIP trip on August 7 to Bridgwater Speedway to watch the Somerset Rebels in action.

This was one of our trips which we usually undertake during our summer break.

We were lucky with the weather as we sat in the car because of rain waiting to go in but once we gained entry the weather improved.

We were shown around the pits where all the bikes were being prepared for the racing, then made our way to the clubhouse where we had a buffet of burgers, sausages and chips.

Members got better images than last year because it was earlier in August so there was more light, initially but as the light went, we did struggle to get decent images.

Overall another good trip.

A second trip was to the Butterfly Farm at Buckfastleigh.

This was an ideal time to practise macro photography as the butterflies were hatching out - but we had to be quick as these colourful insects don’t settle for long.

The centre is also an otter sanctuary and their feeding times are good for photography too. Some of the group retired for lunch at the nearby Abbey for more photography and overall it was a successful and enjoyable day.

The club’s winter season starts on Friday, September 13 and with an exhibition in Crediton Library throughout September.
